Japanese Domestic Market (JDM)

Performance-oriented Japanese automobiles have become more commonplace over the past 30 years. The car manufacturers building these performance vehicles are Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, Subaru, and Mitsubishi. JDM is a prevalent community for car enthusiasts, especially in the car scene worldwide.

Finest JDM's to ever hit the road

1. SUBARU WRX STI

Subaru wrx

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI uses the all-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder for quick acceleration and steady handling on dirt road courses. It was designed to compete in the World Rally Car Championship competition series. The STI initials stand for a later performance enhancement on the Impreza WRX (iSeeCars, 2022).

2. TOYOTA SUPRA

Toyota supra

The Supra, which began life as a Celica spin-off model for the Japanese market, entered the American market in 1980. By 1994, it had a potent twin-turbo 2JZ engine with over 320 horsepower. Toyota stopped selling in the United States in 1998 but kept selling in Japan until 2002. BMW had a significant role in developing the 2020 Supra (iSeeCars, 2022).

3. ACURA NSX

Acura nsx

This mid-engine, V6-powered supercar, also known as the Honda NSX in Japan, made its American premiere in 1991 and had the first mass-produced lightweight aluminum body. 4. NISSAN GT-R

Nissan gtr

The Skyline GT-R is an all-wheel-drive, turbocharged coupe that was never formally offered in the United States. However, several GT-Rs from the Japanese market have been imported and are simple to identify thanks to their right-side-mounted steering wheel. The Skyline GT-R was officially sold as the current Nissan GT-R in the United States (iSeeCars, 2022).

5. MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION

Mitsubishi evo

The Evo, a performance sedan for the Japanese domestic market intended for something other than international markets, became popular with enthusiasts everywhere and was eventually exported to Europe and the United States. The Lancer Evolution excelled in the World Rally Championship competition because of its all-wheel drive and turbocharged engine (iSeeCars, 2022).
